(01) FAQ
Questions, answered.
Can’t see yours? Ask us — we answer every enquiry, usually the same business day.
How do I get a quote?
Fill in the quote form with what you need, your suburb and a rough idea of the property. We come back with a clear, fixed quote — usually the same business day. Nothing is booked until you approve it.
Do you need to visit before quoting?
Usually not. For most cleaning and handyman work, the suburb, property type and a few photos are enough. Larger maintenance jobs, or anything where access or condition is unclear, may need a quick look first — we’ll tell you upfront if that’s the case.
How is pricing worked out?
Every property is different, so we price each job on what it actually needs — size, access, condition and how long it will realistically take. You get one fixed number for an agreed scope, not an hourly rate that drifts.
If we find something genuinely unexpected on site, we stop and talk to you before doing anything that changes the price.
Are your professionals insured and checked?
Yes. Every provider in our network is vetted and holds current insurance before they take an Urban Works job. Licensed trades hold the licences their work requires.
Do I need to be home?
Usually not. We can arrange access with you, your agent or your tenant, and we confirm with you once the work is done. For anything needing decisions on the spot, it helps if you’re reachable by phone.
How quickly can you start?
It depends on the job and the week. Standard cleans and small handyman work are often within a few days; larger maintenance work takes longer to schedule properly. Tell us your deadline in the quote form and we’ll be honest about whether we can meet it.
What areas do you cover?
Metropolitan Melbourne and the surrounding suburbs. You can check your postcode on the home page. If you’re outside our area, add yourself to the waitlist — we’re expanding state by state and we’ll get in touch when we cover you.
Can I book more than one service at once?
Yes — that’s the point of Urban Works. A clean, a repair and a handyman job can all sit under one quote, one booking and one contact, rather than three separate companies you have to chase individually.
Do you work with agents and property managers?
Yes. We coordinate access with tenants, keep you updated as the job progresses, and issue one clear invoice per job. Tell us how your office prefers to work — reports, photos, invoicing format — and we’ll fit in with it.
What if I’m not happy with the work?
Tell us, not the contractor. We coordinate the fix directly with the provider so you’re dealing with one point of contact rather than chasing someone you’ve never met. Raise it as soon as you notice it and we’ll sort it out.
How and when do I pay?
You’re invoiced after the work is completed and you’ve confirmed you’re happy with it. Larger jobs may involve a deposit, which we’ll tell you about in the quote — never as a surprise afterwards.
Can I change or cancel a booking?
Yes. Give us as much notice as you can and there’s no charge. Very late changes may attract a fee if a provider has already committed the time, and we’ll always tell you before that applies.
